Unni Britta Kangas

A choreographer, movie maker and scriptwriter from the rural north of Sweden with her base in Gothenburg. Living and working from a suitcase. She believes in having fun, that playfulness is the catalyst for ideas. Simultaneously wishes to leave space for intense focus and overcoming physical and mental challenges to take the artwork to a new and daring place. It is a contradiction, but friction and dissonance fascinates her. Curious about meeting different types of audiences, children, adults, people who see art often or the “rarebird art-goer”.  Inclusiveness is an important word to Unni Britta, increasing her own awareness and knowledge about people with different abilities and wanting to influence the artworld to be more inviting.

Most current work is the dancetheatre Mosquito Nights, about her heritage as a Tornedalian minority.

Open for collaborations and commissioned work.

MOSQUITO NIGHTS

The dance theater Mosquito Nights, a performance about Tornedalen, a northern Swedish landscape near Torne Valley and the Tornedalian minority. Meet the eccentric characters in the galaxy Mosquito Nights who each have their own story to tell and their own way of telling a story. It is a playful, unpredictable and associative galaxy that the public is invited to experience.
